| Executive Summary |
By implementing an outsourced solution for time reporting with TALX, Humana reduced its payroll error rate from 5% to less than 1%. Humana was also able to eliminate $4 million in vacation liability and reduce the number of FTEs for manual time reporting processes from six to two. Humana had a highly specific list of requirements an outsourcing provider had to meet, including the ability to implement on a tight deadline, the ability to recognize associates from their log-in and show only applicable options, and the ability to generate an audit trail. Humana's implementation was carried out in two stages, in which the front end was implemented first and while manual data entry to payroll was continued, then complete integration of back and front end in the final stage. Usage trends since implementation reflect the various different ways in which the Humana configuration allows timesheets to be entered, including timesheets entered by exempt and non-exempt, supervisor-entered timesheets, and system-generated timesheets for exempt associates with no exemption time to report. The question and answer session includes detailed discussion of data flow, tailoring of the system to account for time-in, time-out, lunch and other factors, and manager delegation of approval rights. |
