| Executive Summary |
|
Paul T. Holtin, Business Lead at Shell Oil Co., discusses the implementation steps and results from the company’s successful paperless W-2 initiative.
Shell sought to implement paperless W-2s to remove the strain associated with W-2 season, while improving employee service. Shell was able to raise the rate at which its employees consented to receive only electronic W-2s to 47% of its U.S. population. Holtin addresses such issues as techniques for boosting consent rates, key points to successfully managing the relationship with an outsourcing vendor and handling W-2cs in an electronic environment.
Gordon Middleton provides an overview of W-2 compliance issues such as the employers’s obligations under IRS Bulletin 2004-11.
